Joe experienced life in a small Midwestern town. It was just one of many small towns in the area. Each was a community in its own right. For the most part, generations of families lived in the area. They graduated from their hometown school. Their children went to the same school. Then, in the mid-60s, the small-town worlds began to change. The world was calling, and this generation was on the move. Never again would life be the same.

After college, Joe returned to his hometown and operated his own farm for 14 years.

Later moved to the city and worked in the corporate world for 25 years.

During that same timeframe, he owned/operated his own business, The Works by Joe, LLC, a handyman service.

Moments are always precious, and his camera helped preserve them for a lifetime. Photographs in many of his stories are from his collection of old buildings, windmills, and those almost missed shots.

His Goldwing motorcycle provided the unique opportunity to meet people and enjoy their stories of what life has shared with them. The open road provided a first-hand view of the character captured in the passing landscape.

All those memories, moments, and photos are being married with words that draw one’s mind to free what life has allowed to remain a shadow of our past.

Joe lives in Overland Park, Kansas, with his wife Vicki. They have two sons, who also live nearby. He has been writing for decades and finally decided to publish his work. One of Joe’s quotes is “If man made it, we can fix it.” So, he is continually building or repairing something. Life is good!
