Double lines
When you think of all the roads you have traveled in your lifetime. What was it that first inspired you to set forth on this road? You were young and knew it wasn’t good to cross the double yellow lines. Yet, you set out on this journey that, once started, would offer endless roads to follow.
Of all the roads you have traveled, did any one of them ever take you on a journey to a place in life where the sun shone every day and where the clouds on a rainy day never hid the sun? Each journey would only take you so far, and you were left there to determine what came next.
There may have been a time in your life when the road one traveled had many obstacles, and it seemed like there was no end in sight. Yet, you continued to travel on the road that offered many mirages. The miles on life’s odometer have now turned over. You have the opportunity to start your next journey with zero miles again. You will be tempted to cross the double yellow lines of the past as one travels on this final uncharted adventure into the future.
Your heart has traveled past this old house many times. Silently, it sits on yesterday’s fading prairie, only waiting for you to release your lifelong dreams. Its unyielding beauty is held in the treasured wallpaper memories of a forgotten life. You have pasted your dangling heart’s dreams on its bare walls. An untouched quest keeps you from entering its inviting doorway. The unwanted rains in life have now entered through the cracks and have dampened those fleeting emotions once held in life’s promised rainbows.
As life’s clouds drift by, you have an unquenched desire to touch what your faith in yesterday’s world promised. One must now be open to travel into life’s fading sunsets. Then you can create those memories covered by the exquisite wallpaper hanging in your new life.
And then:
When you want it to rain, you need to make your own thunder.
